> Device repairs
Need something repaired for cheap? Here's what you should know!
Disclaimer: I'm still relatively new to this sort of thing! I'm mostly offering this for fun
and as a way to improve my tech skills and computer knowledge. I will always do my best to
keep your device working and I can promise that I will stop and put everything back together
if I end up not being able to handle it. But hiring me is still at your own risk!
Things I've repaired:
Keurig
▪ Issue: Simply was not turning on
▪ Fix: Plugged in a component that had become (or was left by manufacturer) unplugged;
reset thermal switch
Nintendo Switch
▪ Issue: Extremely loud fan which eventually stopped working altogether
▪ Fix: Replaced fan, heat sink, and thermal paste
Dell Precision mobile workstation (my school laptop)
▪ Issue: Some keys weren't working properly
▪ Fix: Temporarily halted due to encountering a stripped screw. The keyboard seems to be
working better after some use, so I'll only continue doing this if the issue comes up
again.
New Nintendo 3DS XL
▪ Issue: Battery puffing up
▪ Fix: Replaced battery
I'm willing to at least try to diagnose and fix most things, you're always welcome to
ask!
However, there are a few things that I will probably won't want to attempt fixing, such
as:
▪ Apple products of any kind
▪ Vibrators/similar devices (sorry)
▪ Medical devices
▪ Huge items like TVs
▪ Stripped screws (I'm just not good at that and would probably make it worse - if I have
to stop because I encounter one, you won't be charged)
▪ Those flip phones that bend the touch screen - I feel like I would break it by just
looking at it
Pricing:
▪ Quotes: Free! I define a quote as:
▪ Talking about the device
▪ Opening (or attempting to open) the device to see if it's something I can fix
▪ Labor: $10-20 depending on the amount/difficulty of the work that needs to be done on
it
▪ Parts: Varies, but the cost of any parts that need replacing will be your responsibility
to pay. I will always try going out of my way to find the cheapest deal I can on any parts
you need!
If you need your device for school or work or anything else like that and you're unable to
pay, please let me know! I'm always happy to help either by taking a rain check on payment,
doing a payment plan of some sort, or even just waiving whatever fees I'm able to.
Payments can be made either through Venmo or with cash! Also willing to trade services for
certain things, ask for more info :)

Hi! I'm so glad to see you! My name is Sam.
I'm genderfluid, but I'd prefer it if you called me by he/him all the time (during the times
that I don't feel like explaining my gender and sexuality to people, I'll just call myself a
gay man). I'm a full time undergraduate web development and psychology student in
Washington, and I live with my husband who supports me with his full time job working at my
school, and our two cat children, Beelzebub and Asmodeus (although we usually call them
Mister and Missus, respectively). We live a happy and comfortable life in a somewhat messy
but cozy apartment.
I'm studying to get a job in tech, but my real passion is creating things! I like to make
art and experiment with different mediums, make characters and stories, develop games,
journal, embroider, make dioramas and miniature items, seal wax, and many more fun things!
When I'm not studying, I like to fill my days with lots of creativity (and, of course,
spending time binging visual novels and shows with my husband).
It's a bit hard for me to share my art since I'm pretty shy about it, but I really do think
it's fun to share art and to see other peoples', so I'll try to post plenty of it here
anyways. Lately I've been on a journey of rediscovering why I love to make art, and learning
to love even the "ugly" art I make, because I think even that's valuable. Nowadays I make
art almost exclusively for fun! And if I had fun making it, what does it matter what it
looks like? This is how I think about my art now and how I rediscovered how much I love
creating art after a long time away from it.
I also dabble in witchcraft! I don't care whether you believe in it or not, because, whether
or not it's "real", it's brought me a lot of peace in my life. It has a real impact on me,
and I think that's worth something - but I fully believe in the impacts it can have. My
favorite ways to practice are by using tarot, using sigils, and making spell jars. I also
occasionally worship certain demons. I particularly prefer demons instead of gods for
personal reasons, but especially as a big "fuck you" to organized religion. (I was going to
explain myself on why I hate a lot of organized religions, but I don't really care enough
and I think it should be somewhat apparent anyways. If you take issue with this you're free
to leave.)
Beelzebub (AKA Mister) and Asmodeus (AKA Missus) are tuxedo cats born in the same litter on
May 18 2024 to a stray mommy cat in my husband's boss's house. The most they know of the
outside world is the occasional supervised outside time on our apartment balcony. They were
not built for the streets.
Favorite foods: Wet cat food with shreds/chunks (we are OVER paté it seems), white cheddar
popcorn, macroplastics
Favorite toys: Each other, the couch, the blinds, the latest delivery box (any size)
Favorite parent: Beelzebub has a slight preference for my husband, Asmodeus has a slight
preference for me
Favorite ways to cause problems: Destroying the blinds, destroying the screen door, knocking
over trash cans, screaming when they can't see us, breaking their cat tree (ongoing project
for them)
Top ten creature things (no particular order):
1. Multicolored pink and black beans
2. Texture variety (Beelzebub has short hair, Asmodeus has long hair)
3. Extremely mellow, tolerant, and trusting
4. Can hold a conversation
5. Don't care to run outside when bringing in groceries from delivery
6. Most social cats I've ever had
7. Able to free feed dry food since they're good at not overeating (and look forward to
their twice-daily wet food more anyways)
8. Got to meet them when they were just a few weeks old and knew almost right away which out
of the litter we wanted (I picked Asmodeus, my husband picked Beelzebub)
9. Beelzebub's mustache and kink at the tip of his tail (the tail is not an issue as far as
I know, maybe a birth defect - very cute)
10. The only times I've heard them hiss are when we (rarely) accidentally step/sit on
them
The majority of this site is hand made by me! I'm excited to see how it will evolve as I
progress in my web development, social media, and graphic design classes.
It has many purposes for me - first is to have a place to express myself in my own corner of
the internet without worrying about things like follower counts or even having to filter
myself, both so I don't get banned from a social media site, and for an audience. It's also
a place for me to archive my work and just generally have a "home base" for everything. And
most of all, it's just fun to work on!
The stupid little creatures you see on the sidebars and the about page were made using
maples.im!
I can't guarantee this site will look good in non-Firefox browsers. I used Phoenix Code (the
successor to brackets, a live editor) to make it.
If you find any bugs (or have any suggestions!) I'd appreciate it a lot if you could let me
know using the comment system that's at the bottom of the site :)

> 3-24-2025 - I have an idea for a research project maybe
> 3-4-2025 - Picking a career path is hard
February 2025
> 2-27-2025 - Yeah, no, I'm switching majors
Back
I'm having second thoughts about two things:
1. Going into research
2. Going down a path where I would have to take 150 credits instead of 120
On going into research
Man. This stats stuff is hard. I'm not sure whether I actually like it or not. And on a
related note, I'm thinking maybe instead of UI/UX research I want to go into UI/UX design.
I'm more of a design guy, really. I'm also unsure if I really want to spend unpaid time in
school doing research when I could be spending that time building my portfolio and making
art.
On choosing an easier path
See, the thing is, if I wanted to get two diplomas, I would need to take 15-18 credits per
semester, which is about 5-6 classes. I was okay with this at first, but the principle is
similar to what I mentioned above - the time I spend on those extra psych classes is time I
could be spending on things that mean more to me/are more relevant to me.
I don't know. Maybe UI/UX research would be fun as a job. I'll look into the process, it
must be different but related to psychology research, right?
To be honest, I'm not sure how psychology as a secondary major would work. How do I manage
all that within 120 credits? This requires further research and maybe a few emails to my
psych advisor. I might even just bring it down to a minor.
Psychology is meant to supplement my webdev degree anyways, not be like, an entire other
thing. I kind of forgot this when I looked excitedly at the idea that I could have TWO
DEGREES!! But I think that's another thing I was just excited about for the aesthetics of it
rather than the practicality for my own life. I don't want to make another "computer
science" mistake.
Something I really want to study is how we interact with creating art. Here are a few
guiding questions I've come up with that I want to dive into:
▪ What effect does creating purely for pleasure have on our brains?
▪ Why do we judge ourselves based on our art so hard? Why do we place so much self worth on
the quality of the art we make?
▪ At what point in our childhood do we start caring about how our art looks rather than
just creating for the sake of fun?
▪ How big of a role does social media play in our perception of the worth of our art?
▪ How does that^ compare to artists before social media was a thing? How much did
pre-internet artists struggle with this compared to modern day artists? And has anyone who
was an artist pre social media *and* in the current day experienced an increase in feeling
their self worth is connected to their art?
▪ How does this vary between people who currently do art for their job, people who are
studying art (in school or not), and people who do art purely as a hobby/for fun?
▪ How can we stop caring about how our art looks and start engaging with it the same way we
did as kids - purely for fun?
Back
I'm terrified, honestly. Mostly of how much I have to do to make it through this semester.
Tomorrow, a programming assignment is due and I don't know what I'm doing at all. But that's
okay. It's always okay.
But "okay" isn't enough anymore. First I wanted to go to art school. Then I realized I hated
that and didn't want to do anything that I previously wanted to do as a job. So I pivoted
HARD.
Me? Computer science? I didn't have any background in programming. Sure, of course, anyone
can learn a new skill. But it is so, so painfully soul-sucking for me due to the lack of
artsy-ness or creativity in the way I like to express creativity... No, it's bad. It's
making me miserable.
I'm so lucky to have options. I'm so grateful to be able to grow as a person and above all,
I am so, so, so grateful that I realized when I did. Any later than this semester and it
surely would have been too late. I. NEED. To be creative. I NEED to visually create things.
It's written into my fucking DNA.
One of the biggest things I've been learning as I learn to live away from home and as a
proper adult is that there is always a corner of the world for me. Always, there is a happy
little spot for me in the painting of our world. There is something for me.
I think this broad niche is perfect. DTC web development. A beautiful mix of fun front end
programming and graphic design. Psychology. A fun thing to study and a way to bolster my
resume and expand my horizons. These come together into a beautiful mix of fun and
practicality, fulfilling for my soul without sacrificing the security of a degree that can
lead to a high-paying job. (In fact, it seems that something like UX/UI research/design can
be even more lucrative than a general software development job, sometimes. We stay
winning.)
Additionally, well, these computer science and engineering people just... Aren't my people.
My people are in the arts - they're studying graphic design, they're painting murals on the
walls of the school, they're creating video games and writing novels. I don't have passion
for writing pure code. I have passion for making *art*.
What's a commonplace journal?
A commonplace journal is distinct from a regular journal in that a regular journal (at least
how I use it) is typically for daily thoughts and looser, more random entries, whereas a
commonplace journal (again, how I use it) is more of an organized collection of ideas,
information, quotes, and other such things. I like to use it to recod thoughts I have on
particular topics in an organized way!
This isn't all of my commonplace entries, as some of them can get quite personal, just a
select handful that I deemed suitable for other people to see. I also like to add on to
existing ones, so check back from time to time if you're interested!
As a final note, it's okay if you disagree with my opinions or worldview. We all have
different experiences who shape who we are and how we view the world. This is just a glimpse
into my own experiences, opinions, and view on life and our world! (My opinions are subject
to change over time. I try to edit/remove entries when they do, but sometimes I might
forget.)
AI
> Are we god?

> Creation is uniquely human
> My artistic mindset is the best it's ever been
> Consuming media is worthwhile, sometimes
Journaling
> Digital journaling, to me
I love my Hobonichi, trust me. Isn't this so accessible though? It's so accessible. It's so
easy.
I love the rituals of sitting at my desk, pulling out my Hobonichi and my pens and stickers
and all my fun little stationery items, lighting a candle, maybe drinking some tea or coffee
- and enjoying the moment of journaling. It's almost certainly a form of meditation, for me.
But I think those moments are more about that sort of meditation that comes with the action
of writing in my journal, of setting up those rituals and enjoying them. Digital journaling,
for me, is about the content of the journal. If I pull out my Hobonichi, it's because I want
to enjoy the action of journaling. If I start writing in a digital journal, it's because I
have something to say. And by god do I have a lot to say.
Obviously this isn't so much about doomscrolling and social media. I'm talking about
something that took someone great effort to make. Media that is lovingly made by people who
want to share something with others is valuable. Taking in that media is how we gain other
peoples' perspectives and understanding of the world. And perhaps even more than gaining
knowledge from the media, we can gain more knowledge both about ourselves and even the
world, from what we feel while consuming it.
In the past, advice from more advanced artists about having a better mindset (not putting
all my self worth on my artistic ability, not beating myself up for making ugly art, etc.)
never really struck a chord with me. I would hear them, I would get what they were saying,
but I never felt like I could really break free of the mindset of "I need to make good art
or else I'm worthless and shouldn't be drawing".
But I get it now. I can listen to someone experienced talk about how they improved their own
mindset, and go yeah, I get it, I can take this information and apply it to my own
mentality. Not only that, but I take in information about art techniques and tips and
actually understand them a lot better than I used to.
Is it because I'm not planning on necessarily making art my sole career anymore, taking
pressure off myself? Is it a result of getting older and gaining a healthier mindset about
many aspects of life in general (thank you frontal lobe)? Is it just because I'm better at
art now and I generally feel like I can produce pieces that I like better than I used to?
Probably all of the above. I got really inspired in the first place this year by
Marie-Noelle Wurm, a Youtuber who has a channel where she talks a lot about breaking free of
the unhealthy mentalities surrounding our own art that a lot of people have, and returning
to how we treated art as we did when we were kids - as something we do for fun. And I was
really surprised by how much that helped me. It was similar to things I've heard plenty in
the past, but it just felt different.
Is it because of the person? Maybe. Maybe nowadays there are just more content creators that
resonate with me. Maybe Youtube's algorithm has gotten better. I don't know. All I care
about is that I'm drawing, and for the first time in forever, I'm having *fun* while
drawing. Hell, I've even started drawing traditionally again. I got a sketchbook that's
wonderful for everything except alcohol markers (that's okay, I don't use those much), and
drawing in it every day is something I always look forward to. I don't feel the need to push
myself to make everything look good anymore. Most of the stuff in my sketchbook is NOT stuff
I would post online. But that's okay. That's normal.
More than that, that's the POINT of sketchbooks - to experiment. I'm even enjoying in my
sketchbook perhaps more than drawing digitally, which is very strange for me, since I've
been glued to tablets and iPads ever since I started using them for drawing.
Art means different things to different people, but at its essence, it's fun. It's a form of
play. And most of all, it's the ultimate form of expression. Art is freedom. Ugly art is
freedom.
"There's no such thing as ugly art" yeah yeah, I agree, all art has value and is beautiful
in one way or another. But there is ugly art. There is art we find aesthetically unpleasing.
And that will always be subjective, but there's also some pretty widely observed ideas of
what is aesthetically pleasing or unpleasing to the eye.
The ugliest human-made art will always, always be more beautiful than AI art.
God, according to most religions as far as I'm aware, is our creator. God is God because God
made conscious life. It's my opinion that consciousness simply comes from electrical signals
in our brains. Consciousness is the result of years upon years of evolution, it's a survival
mechanic (as far as I understand it).
And anything that can be broken down to electrical pulses and signals can of course be
replicated in technology. Is it super super super complicated? Yeah. It's probably super
super super hard to do. But I believe it's *possible*. And if it's *possible*, with the rate
technology is advancing, it will happen. I believe we will create consciousness. And it
looks like we are THIS close to doing so.
If WE create consciousness, and WE rule over it, and WE decide what the rules for it are...
Does that not make us God? And I mean this in the most literal sense possible. Not "I play a
game where I create little people and make them do silly things in a god simulator". It's
"we made genuine, thinking, feeling consciousness, so we might be GOD".
